1) Sentimental Journey (1944). Besteciler Bud Green, Les Brown ve Ben Homer. İlk söyleyen Doris Day gibi görünüyor.
Hele Kat Dunbar'dan bu a capella versiyona bayıldım.
Eğer yakında evlilik yıldönümü olanlar varsa bu versiyonla ilgilenebilirler.
İşte sözleri:Gonna take a Sentimental Journey,
Gonna set my heart at ease.
Gonna make a Sentimental Journey,
to renew old memories.
Got my bags, got my reservations,
Spent each dime I could afford.
Like a child in wild anticipation,
I Long to hear that, "All aboard!"
Seven...that's the time we leave at seven.I'll be waitin' up at heaven,
Countin' every mile of railroad track,
that takes me back.
Never thought my heart could be so yearny.
Why did I decide to roam?
Gotta take that Sentimental Journey, Sentimental Journey home.
2) It's a Good Day (1947) Besteciler Peggy Lee ve Dave Barbour.
İşte sözleri:Yes, it's a good day for singin' a song,
And it's a good day for movin' a - long;
Yes, it's a good day,
how could anything go wrong,
A good day from mornin' till night.
Yes, it's a good day for shinin' your shoes,
And it's a good day for losin' the blues;
Ev'rything to gain and nothin' to lose,'Cause it's a good day from mornin' till night.
I said to the sun, "good mornin', sun.
Rise and shine, today."
You know you've got - ta get go - in'
If you're gonna make a showin'
And you know you've got the right of way.
'Cause it's a good day for payin' your bills;
And it's a good day for curin' your ills,
So take a deep breath and throw away your pills;'Cause it's a good day from mornin' till night.
3) I'm Going Up. Orijinal bilgileri yok.
Oh, saints an’ sinners will-a you go
See the heavenly land
I’m a-going up to heaven for to see my robe
See the heavenly land
Oh, yes I’m going up, going up
Going up all the way, Lord,
Going up
to see the heavenly land
Oh, yes I’m going up, going up
Going up all the way, Lord,
Going up
to see the heavenly land
Going to see my robe an’ try it on
See the heavenly robe
Ti’s brighter than the glittering sun
See the heavenly land
(nakarat tekrar)
4) He's Got the Whole World in His Hands. Orijinal bilgileri yok.
Marian Anderson versiyonu etkileyici. Dinlemek için buraya tıklayın.
İşte sözleri:
He’s got the whole world in His hands
He’s got the whole wide world in His hands
He’s got the whole world in His hands
He’s got the whole world in His hands
He’s got the wind and the day in his hands
He's got the sun and the moonlight in his hands
He's got the sea and the sunrise in his hands
He’s got the whole world in His hands
He's got the little pretty baby in his hands...
He's got you and me brother in his hands...
He's got you and me sister in his hands...
He's got everybody in his hands....
5) Listen to the Lambs. Nathaniel Dett tarafından yazıldığını sanıyorum. 1940'da J.W. Work tarafından derlenmiş.
O Listen to the lambs All a-crying
Listen to the lambs All a-crying
Listen to the lambs All a-crying
I want to go to Heaven when I die
Come on sister with your ups and downs
Want to go to Heaven when I die
Angels waiting for to give you a crown
Want to go to Heaven when I die
Come on sister and don’t be shame
Want to go to Heaven when I die
Angels waiting for to write your name
Want to go to Heaven when I die
Mind out brother how you walk the cross
Want to go to Heaven when I die
Foot might slip and your soul get lost
Want to go to Heaven when I die
6) Sit Down Sister - Go Tell It On the Mountain - Rock My Soul. Üç farklı spiritual'dan oluşan bir kolaj. Yanılmıyorsam bir Semih Fırıncıoğlu düzenlemesi bu kolaj.
Oh won't you sit down?
Lord, I can't sit down
Oh won't you sit down?
Lord, I can't sit down
Oh won't you sit down?
Lord, I can't sit down
Who's that yonder dressed in red?
Must be children that Moses led.
Who's that yonder dressed in white?
Must be the cildren of Israelite.
Go tell it on the mountain to let my people go.
(Oh, won't you..... tekrar)
Who's that yonder dressed in blue?
Must be the children that are coming through.
Who's that yonder dressed in black?
Must be the hypocrites a-turnin'-back
Go tell it on the mountain to let my people go.
Rock-a-my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Rock-a-my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Rock-a-my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Oh, rock-a-my-soul.
So high, I can't get over it, so low I can't get under it
So wide, I can't get into it, oh Rock-a-my soul.
7) Nobody Knows The Troubles I've Seen. Son derece duygulu ve etkileyici bir gospel.
Etkileyici bir bas versiyonu için buraya tıklayın.
İşte sözleri:
Nobody knows de trouble I’ve seen
Nobody knows de trouble but Jesus
Nobody knows de trouble I’ve seen
Glory Hallelujah!
Sometimes I’m up, sometimes I’m down
Oh, yes, Lord
Sometimes I’m almost to de groun’
Oh, yes, Lord
8) I Believe (1970). Bu parçayı ilk Dolly Parton'ın söylediğini yeni öğrendim. Beste ve söz Drake, Graham, Shirl & Stillman'a ait. 1971'deki gospel albümü Golden Streets of Glory'deki parçaların bazılarını 1997'deki I Believe albümüne almış.
I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows
And I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows
I believe for everyone who goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
Yes I believe, Oh I believe
I believe above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
I believe Oh I believe
9) This Little Light of Mine. Bu neşeli gospel'in orijinal bilgisi yok.

This little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine

I'm going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Someone’s singing, Lord

11) Spinning Wheel (1969) Blood, Sweat and Tears'in solisti David Clayton Thomas'ın bestesi.
What goes up, must come down
Spinnin' wheel, got ta go round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin' wheel spin
Ya got no money, and ya
ya got no home
Spinnin' wheel all alone
Talkin' 'bout your troubles and ya
ya never learn
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin' wheel turn
Did ya find a directing sign
on the straight and narrow highway?
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine, within your mind
And show you the colours that are real.
Someone is waitin' just for you
Spinnin' wheel spinnin' to
Drop all your troubles by the river side
Catch a painted pony
on the spinnin' wheel ride...huh
Someone's waitin' just for you
Spinnin' wheel's spinnin' true
Drop all your troubles by the river side
Ride a painted pony,
let the spinnin' wheel fly.
12) Heaven Bound Soldier.
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along, along
There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts throbbin' his old sweet song
Wake up, wake up you sleepy head
Get up, get out of your bed
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red
Live, love, laugh and be happy
What if I were blue, now I'm walking through, walking through the fields of flowers
Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours
I'm just a kid again doing what I did again, singing a song
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along
There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts a throbbin' his old sweet song
Wake up, wake up you sleepy head
Why don't you get out of bed, cheer up
Live, love, laugh and be happy
What if I were blue, now I'm walking through fields of flowers
Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours
I'm just a kid again, doing what I did again, singing a song
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along
Along, along, along, along, along. 14) God Bless the Child (1939).

When you're gone, spending ends

Orijinal Kingston Trio versiyonu bizim söylediğimize çok yakın. Dinleyin.
İşte sözleri:Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die. I met her on the mountain,
There I took her life;
Met her on the mountain,
Stabbed her with my knife.
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die.
This time tomorrow,
Reckon where I'll be;
Hadn't a-been for Grayson,
I'd a-been in Tennessee.
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die.
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die.
This time tomorrow,
Reckon where I'll be;
Down in some lonesome valley,
Hangin' from a white oak tree.
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die.
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry;
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley,
Poor boy, you're bound to die.
Poor boy, you're bound to die;
Poor boy you're bound to die;
Poor boy, you're bound to die...

Let the Sunshine In
We starve-look
At one another
Short of breath
Walking proudly in our winter coats
Wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation
Of moving paper fantasy
Listening for the new told lies
With supreme visions of lonely tunes
Somewhere
Inside something there is a rush of Greatness
Who knows what stands in front of Our lives
I fashion my future on films in space
Silence Tells me secretly
Everything Everything
Manchester England England
Manchester England England
Eyes look your last
Across the Atlantic Sea
Arms take your last embrace
And I'm a genius genius
And lips oh you the doors of breath
I believe in God
Seal with a righteous kiss
And I believe that God believes in Claude
Seal with a righteous kiss
That's me, that's me, that's me
The rest is silence
The rest is silence
The rest is silence
[Singing] Our space songs on a spider web sitar
Life is around you and in you

Barry Manilow yorumu için buraya tıklayın.
İşte sözler:
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don't need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross,
Enough to last till the end of time.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,No, not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen, lord, if you want to know.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.
No, not just for some, oh, but just for everyone.19) The Marching Saints. Bu geleneksel Dixie tarzı şarkıyı Louis Armstrong meşhur etmişti. İşte sözleri:Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number

And when the sun begins to shine
Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the sun begins to shine
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
Oh, when the trumpet sounds its call
Oh, when the trumpet sounds its call
Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the trumpet sounds its call
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
